Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before purchasing a handwoven Peruvian Frazada.
About Our Products
A Frazada is a traditional Andean blanket, handwoven in the highlands of Peru from natural sheep or alpaca wool. They have been woven for centuries by indigenous communities using techniques and iconographic patterns that reflect Andean cosmovision — the spiritual relationship between people, nature, and the cosmos. When Frazadas are retired from use as blankets, they are repurposed as rugs, wall hangings, or cushion covers.
Our Frazadas are approximately 25–35 years old. They are genuine vintage pieces, acquired directly from the Andean communities that wove them. Each piece was handwoven for personal or family use before being selected by us for its quality, condition, and design. This vintage status is part of what makes them unique — they cannot be reproduced.
Most of our Frazadas are made from natural sheep wool, and some from alpaca wool — both sourced from animals raised in the high-altitude Andes. The colours are either the natural tones of the wool (beige, brown, grey, black) or achieved with natural plant-based dyes. No synthetic fibres or chemical dyes are used in traditional Andean weaving.
Every Frazada is genuinely one of a kind. Because they are vintage pieces handwoven by individual artisans without any mechanical reproduction, each one has a unique pattern, colour palette, and character. Once a piece is sold, it is gone. We cannot reproduce it, and we do not stock duplicates.
Most of our rugs measure approximately 1.60–1.90 × 1.60–1.90 metres — making them ideal for living room spaces, bedroom foot placements, or as statement pieces in entryways. Exact dimensions are listed on each individual product page. Cushion covers are most commonly 45 × 45 cm.
Shipping & Delivery
Yes. We ship worldwide, with Germany and Europe being our primary markets. Free worldwide shipping is included on all orders of 2 or more items. For single-item orders, a shipping fee applies — this is calculated at checkout based on your location.
Delivery to Europe typically takes 7–14 business days. Items are shipped from Peru via international courier. You will receive a tracking number once your order has been dispatched.
Orders shipped to the EU may be subject to import duties and VAT, depending on the order value and your country's regulations. For Germany, import duties on textiles from Peru are generally low due to trade agreements. If any duties apply, they would typically be collected by the courier upon delivery. We recommend checking with your local customs authority if you have specific concerns.
Returns & Quality
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery. If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, contact us and we will arrange a full refund or exchange. The item must be returned in its original condition. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer unless the item is defective or not as described.
Natural wool rugs are durable and low-maintenance. We recommend: vacuum gently without a beater bar; spot-clean with cold water and mild wool-safe detergent; air dry flat away from direct sunlight; rotate the rug occasionally for even wear. Professional dry cleaning is safe and recommended for deep cleaning. Avoid machine washing.
We photograph our pieces in natural daylight to represent colours as accurately as possible. However, screen calibrations vary, and natural dyes produce subtle tonal variations that cameras cannot always fully capture. If colour accuracy is critical for your purchase, please contact us before ordering and we can provide additional photos taken in different lighting conditions.
